Darryl Hillock started his recording career in 1998 when he bought a 4-track cassette deck. He recorded his own material for a couple of years, which culminated in “SHIFT, a day at work,” which debuted nationally on CBC radio’s world famous program Brave New Waves in 2001.
It was around this time Darryl founded Brown Paper Bag Productions, which has helped many artists find their way through the music business. Often providing free advice and direction Brown Paper Bag Productions is still receiving questions and demo submissions for production help and review.
Darryl attended Harris Institute for the Arts in 2002 where he studied under some of the best producers, engineers and studio designers in the country. Darryl graduated with honours, and also graduated with excellent experience in helping to record artists such as Alanis Morrisette.
Shortly after graduating, Darryl found himself working with world famous producer/engineer Nick Blagona. Nick showed Darryl the tips and tricks of mixing and mastering at Metalworks. He also graciously showed him other aspects of the music business.
In 2006 Bluewater studios has evolved to offer audio-post, video editing, and media services such as DVD authoring, CD/DVD duplication, graphic design and printing services.
